Coping with Emotions cheat sheet

All the overthinking I do, leads to better clarity on my emotions. And the whole range of emotions that exist. Sometimes new emotions come to the surface, when experiencing something I’ve never done before. It can take years to understand what's passed. I do this work with the hopes to navigate my future with a stable mind.

Anger is a big emotion. Capable of great destruction without much forethought. Many people charge through life in their rage, feeling out of control to the emotion. Out of control for the destruction it brings.

I used to hate that I would burn bridges with people in a rage fit, when I was actually just hungry or sad about something else.

Or that I would set myself back in so many ways, as a result of an adult tantrum I was having. I've had therapy for my rage and I have slowly gained more control over that part of my life.

When I saw this tweet, it reminded me of my anger therapy sessions.

This advice is solid, it's actively practised by individuals who are trying to heal. I'm always asking where the source of the rage emotion is coming from. Many times it's from being hangry.

I wanted to turn it into a visual graphic for me. I thought maybe others could use the visual reminder too.

Yes this idea has been reinterpreted many times with other people's art. But it's not been done with my art, and that is what makes it more personal for me. And if someone likes Toucans and this works for them? Win win. The art is mine, the words belong to someone, but not the person who tweeted it.

I am so in love with this, & how it turned out. I used Toucans again, Toco Toucans to be exact. Just really find the bird so fascinating, it's a treat to illustrate. And this is my style, this is me. Now I want to make these infographics for other emotions too.

I dream of an emotionally intelligent society in the future. Healing all the trauma and moving forward in healthy ways.

One day.

(It's my birthday coming up soon! )
